If that is not occurring, something is very wrong on their side. You stated in the original post your media converter resets the connection if it loses power, but you've also stated your'e using a managed switch with SFP ports, so I'm not sure what you're doing currently? There is no scenario where the SP-side (Cogent) should flip between auto negotiate and hard coded they plug the config for one or the other into their hardware and it sticks. If anyone knows of a reputable brand, huge bonus points for 元 capabilities, that won't set me back $10k like a 9300+9100 (3850+2960C $6k?), that would be great! I wish I could find a nice 8+c and 6+sfp port switch. Each location we have requires 8-12 copper ports for local and 2-8 fiber ports for next location connections. While I would like to not have any media converters in production (we are slowly getting rid of what we can), it is cost prohibitive for us to completely eliminate them. These use SFPs of your choosing, but the ones we have are less than 2 years old so I cannot comment on longevity, but 0 issues so far. The FS.com ones we have are singlemode and in the same cabinet types in the field. They say pretty blatantly for indoor use only, which I assume is for moisture issues, but we have them all over in the field hitting spurs from 2960s inside cabinets which have pretty extreme temp ranges and they have lasted years. Antaira MCs are all multimode units running 2k 100Mb. We have a combination of Antaira and FS.com media converters. Understandably, but we haven'd had any issues with ours in production.
